Spring Break 2010!

Finally i'm making my post!
So we surprised the kids with a trip to San Diego over Spring Break.
We all love San Diego, it's warm, green, there's a beach and did I mention it's WARM!!!!
The first night we got there we headed over to Old Town, for those who haven't been there, it's basically a mini Mexico (sorry no better way to describe it). They have a ton of shops and Mexican restaurants, our favorite is Coyote Cafe, if your in the area we highly recommend it.
They also have a few outdoor vendor's, here's Kendra "shopping", have I told you how the girl likes to shop, I am happy to say she takes after me! (good thing we are bargain shopper's or Mike would put an end to our shopping trips).
Mike and I at Coyote Cafe.

When the kids order off the kids meal they get to go to the cute candy store and pick out some candy, that place was loaded so of course they had a hard time deciding what to get.Deidra shopping, yep another shopper! Tyler playing around with the sombrero. He actually found a "banjo" (that's what he called it) that he wanted so bad and kept asking for it. We told him he needed to wait and see what else he could get at the other places we were going to before he could get one, We were hoping he would forget about it, cuz really do we need a "banjo"?
Deidra found this awesome sign on the floor of one of the shops it reads "On this site in 1897 nothing happened". Tuesday we headed off to Sea World, it's one of my favorite places to visit so I was super excited.
Kendra with one of the coolest slug bugs EVER!

Just getting started.Tea cups inside Sea World, not a favorite of mine; Luckily for me the big girls are more than willing to take the little one's on the rides.I opted out of this one as well, you get soaked and I didn't want the camera to get ruined. They came off this ride sooooooo wet, but they loved it.I love Whales. Mike took this picture and I thought it was cool so I had to add it.A cute one of Kendra after after lunch in Sea World. A cute one of Tiff.
Now we love surprising our kids with trips like this, BUT by the end of the day we didn't win the parents of the year award because we forgot the sunscreen, we felt so bad and rushed out to get them some aspirin and aloe to soothe the pain, thank goodness it worked or the rest of the week wouldn't have been very fun.
The next day we headed over to Balboa park where they have a ton of different museums.
Here's cute Tyler. We went to their version of a children's museum, they did have alot of the same stuff we have at ours except in this one area they had all these tables set up with these wood blocks the you could hang out and build what ever you wanted then knock them down and start over. They kids loved this and those blocks were so cool.Outside one of the museums.Cute one of Deidra.

Loved this funky animal that had been "badazzled".The next day we headed to the beach, thankfully we never needed that lifeguard.
The kids loved playing in the Ocean, it was cold but oh so fun.
Kendra and I walked up and down the beach gathering sea shells.Tyler could not get enough!
Deidra was up on the beach laying out with me so there aren't any good photos of her at the beach. So the boy ended up with his "banjo" he originally wanted green but that one was tweaked so he went with the red for the "UTES". And can I just say how much he loves this thing. The next day we headed to the zoo. If you have never been to the San Diego Zoo this place is HUGH, but we love it.
For those of you who know I have back problems you would know that by now my back is killing me so I took a Lortab while at the zoo, and let me tell you that wasn't a good thing to do on an empty stomach and walking around when it's 80, seriously parts of this day are a total blur, Mike even had to remind me that I did eat lunch and what I ate, it was a little crazy."Hey what are you lookin at"? I love this little guy.
Kendra's favorite, she has always loved the flamingo's.Really, what the heck is this thing? This bear and his roommate came from Idaho because they were in some small town going through garbage's and just way to close to people so they moved to sunny San Diego (smart Bear's if you ask me). Anyway they were super active, playing with each other, climbing the tree and running all over the place. It was so fun to sit and watch them, I've never seen Bear's active like this before (this was towards the end of the day so I do remember this, haha)
Of course we ate and ate and ate at all sorts of different place's but making 2 stops at In-n-Out was a must.We drove, so that can be a brutal drive but we have a super smart Easter Bunny that put color books and movies and pipe cleaners in the kids baskets to help pass the time. And the pipe cleaner idea was awesome, they made so neat stuff, anywhere from peacock's to microphone's which was great to have the kids be backup singers to Justin Beiber and Taylor Swift or whoever really.
Deidra's favorite part of the trip was: Sea World (there is a little reason as to why this was her favorite but that has to be kept between her and I :)) but she did also like the "otter show".
Tiffany's favorite part of the trip was: Sea World, she loves seeing all the animal's and being able to touch some of them. She also loved the water rides.
Kendra's favorite part of the trip was: Sea World because she got to touch the sting rays.
Tyler's favorite part of the trip was: Sea World too, he loved going on the "Atlantis" ride, he loved getting wet.
I guess we could have done Sea World the whole time and they would have been happy!
I loved everything about the trip, the good times we had, that everyone got along and there was no arguing, all the stops we made and different things we did. I love having all the photos to look at, I love how the kids will talk about this or that and the joy it brings to my heart knowing they had a good time.

Aren't family vacations the best? It sounds like you had a great time, and the memories will last FOREVER. Kids grow up way too fast.

So fun. We went to each of those places and we probably barely missed each other at some of those places, ha ha.
