Who knew?

That girls can faint while getting their hair done, not me and having 3 daughter's with hair to do over 12 years now that I would know this. Well it does happen and it happened to Kendra this morning. She was standing on the stool and I had just started doing her hair, had to throw something away and turned around towards her and she said mommy I'm sleepy, I'm really sleepy, her eyes started rolling into the back of her head and I grabbed her, started talking to her asking what was wrong, and she was out. I have never gone thru this kind of experience before when someone faints, let me tell you I was freaked out, I grabbed the phone, it was all I could do to call 911. By the time I was on my last 1, she had woke up, but she was very weak, and as white as a ghost. So I called our Dr. and he said to get her right up to Primary Children's Hospital to be checked, so I called my good friend Tami and asked her to take Tyler, then sent Deidra and Tiff off to school and we were on our way. Mike met us there. They checked her, did some blood work, did an EKG to check her little heart, then came in to tell us that she had a combo of not enough sugar in her system, and locking her knees while standing to get her hair done. Thank goodness she is OK, we just have to make sure she gets plenty of juice in the morning and sit to do her hair and watch her to make sure she doesn't faint again. I'll take it, we were all very worried about this precious little girl. The Dr. did say this happens often to girls while getting their hair done, they even have some fancy name for it, (I don't remember what it is). It was pretty scary, but I'm glad that it is a simple thing to take care of. We all love you Kendra and are glad your OK. I guess I should add that once we left the hospital she was doing well and wanted to go to school, since it was a short day I took her in.

Crazy. I saw her at school today with the "hospital bracelet" and wondered what was wrong. I am glad she is ok. There is nothing scarier than a "pass out." Matt just commented on how cute your girls and little Tyler are... I agree. Cute family! :) I am happy Kendra is ok.

Oh my heck! I grew up in a family of girls and never knew! However, my mom never did as awesome hairdo's as you do! Wow, I'm glad Kendra is okay. That is crazy!

Scary! Weird thing though...I dropped Beckam off at Joann's this morning and McKenna had passed out too! I'm glad everything's okay!

Sheesh! I can't imagine how scary that would be to watch your child lose consciousness. Remember when we got that call that Rebekah had been knocked out at school while we were having lunch? But I wasn't there to watch it in person and by the time I got the call she was okay. Watching it like you did...that would freak me out. I'm glad she's okay.

guess what? i actually knew this! i used to do it when i was little and still do if i don't go have some juice or something first thing in the morning. i make my kids eat breakfast first thing because i have to so i think that's why they've never had it happen to them.
Glad that's all it was though!

Hi Mindy,
Michelle use to pass out everytime she would cry too hard, the first time I freaked out,the doctor said it was her bodies way of calming down so she could start breathing normally again, after a while we just waited for her to come to again! But that first time ws terrifying!! I am glad Kendra is ok, we will understand if her hair isn't done o9n Sun. Love Jane
