Hello Fall!

This is one of the sunflowers that Mike had planted in our backyard this year. We all loved how big these got. Have you ever wondered what they look like when they die. (ya know before you throw them away)

So the above picture doesn't do the sunflower justice, it actually looks kinda small.

But with my little man holding it, this thing is really big.

Mike ripped one open and it is like a soft foam inside. But this made it easier for the kids to get the seeds out. They are actually just under where the yellow flower is.

This is a closer look, and check out how many seeds this one has. I am totally amazed how this whole process works.

The kids were putting the seeds inside a Frisbee because they had no where else to put them at the time, it is full and that is just from about 1/2 of the sunflower. We can't wait to plant more for next year. Unfortunately this does mean fall is here and all of our flowers will slowly be dieing. Good thing I like fall. We love to take drives in the mountains and see the wonderful leaves changing. Winter that is a hole other story in itself.
