Eden Balloon festival 2009

This past weekend we headed up to Eden, UT for the Ogden Vally Balloon festival. We rented a condo this year so we didn't have to get up as early to make the drive.
Friday night was windy so we took the kids over to the "launch" area where they launch the balloons, not much was going on, but people had gathered for the band. We also provided a bit of free entertainment with the kite. (Some random dude's were taking pictures of us all flying it)
This is how close we were to the balloons, it's really cool. This would be bright and early in the morning. They like to launch by about 7:30, but everyone likes to get there early to watch them all being blown up.This is one of my fav's. I just love the cute little flowers on it. And this is the energizer bunny. Apparently he is currently touring the U.S., he is huge, they were saying his ears are as big as a normal size balloon. He is 8 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. See crazy huge. But it was so neat to watch them blow him up, he like came to life.Because we had to get up so early, and we went to bed so late I was pretty tired, so Mike took the kids over swimming so I could get some rest. (Isn't he the best!!) They had a great time.I had to add this picture. Tyler was apparently having tons of fun, and this one just cracked me up. He is the funniest little guy. All in all we had a great weekend, it got a little cold at night and in the mornings but it is always good to spend quality time with the family.

Looks like you had a great time! Did you see Dax and Kim? Apparently they were up there too.

That looks so fun, maybe we will have to join you next year.

Holy Cow! That bunny is huge! I wonder how long it takes to blow that thing up.

I've never see a hot air balloon up close. Do they offer rides or are the balloons just for show?

Sara- nope we didn't see them, but there were alot of people.
Shauna- You should come, it is fun.
Mary- Some of them do offer rides, i'm scared of heights so I would never go up, but my kids all want to & so does Mike. I'm not sure how much they charge though.

Awesome pictures! I saw some pictures in the paper and thought it would be fun to go - but we didn't. Maybe next year!
